The Results Day Toolkit, from the University of Westminster

The clearing toolkit is a free tool for all students receiving results this August. It has been redesigned in 2018 to support parents and teachers.

The University of Westminster has launched the second edition of the clearing toolkit, designed to help applicants and parents through the clearing process to enable them to make those crucial decisions on 16 August 2018.

Users are provided with a list of top tips, advice and a step-by-step guide on what to do on Results Day. The toolkit includes a list of prompts, ensuring users have their UCAS number, personal statement and qualification results at hand when applying. It provides a framework to be prepared, making the clearing process less stressful. It includes essential advice like starting research early, being open to consider new subject areas, staying in contact with the clearing team and what to do when offers are made over the phone.

The clearing toolkit is free to download from the University of Westminster Clearing webpage and is available to everyone, regardless of which university they are planning to apply. It aims to ease the stress many students and parents feel in the run up to receiving their exam results which affect important decisions about their future. Westminster has created the toolkit to help students and parents make sense of all the different information and options being presented to them.

Lindsay Neil, Director of Admissions says: “Students have much more choice in Clearing now so it is important to consider all options before results day. Research different courses you might be interested in and ensure that you have the right information to hand when calling a university about a place. The Clearing Toolkit is there to help you through the process step-by-step. Make sure you have the right information to hand such as your UCAS number and be prepared to speak to an academic member of staff about why you want to do the course and what it is about the course that interests you.”

Westminster is also offering drop in campus tours on A Level Results day and over the weekend. Two student guides will be on site at every campus to meet and greet any clearing applicants and offer tours to them. Bookable Campus tours will run in theweek beginning 27 August. They are open to all students who have received an offer through Clearing and give students the opportunity to explore exactly where their course will be taught and they can find out more about the University. Offer holders can register for these tours online.
